Apple has released the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus which comes with a lot of key improvements across the board compared to its predecessors.
The notable difference in the iPhone 8 are in the design where it now comes with a glass build and more durable aluminum frame. Other major addition to the iPhone 8 are in the camera department, chipset, support for fast and wireless charging and new stereo speakers.

Design & Display
iPhone 8 looks a lot like the last iPhone, (iPhone 7) except for the new glass on the back which Apple claims is the most durable on any mobile phone yet.
The sides and edges are a bit rounded and the frame is made of aluminum series 7000. The Home key which Apple got rid of in the iPhone X also returns and it also houses the fingerprint sensor.
The iPhone 8 measures 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3 mm and weighs 148g. You have three colour varieties to choose from; Space Gray, Rose Gold and Silver.
iPhone 8 packs a 4.7 inch IPS LCD display that comes at a resolution of 750 x 1334 pixels and a pixel density of 326 ppi. The display now supports 3D touch, True Tone and Cinema Wide Colour Gamut.
The display should serve you well while watching videos and also reading text. And it should be quite legible outdoors as well.
Camera
In the camera department, the iPhone 8 comes with a single 12-megapixel sensor. Although this is the same sensor as last years iPhone 7, Apple says the one on the iPhone 8 is much more improved as it offers faster low light focusing, improved sharpness and dynamic range and lower noise.
The camera is optically stabilized (OIS) and adds autofocus and a dual tone quad-LED flash.
iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus comes with what Apple calls 'Portrait Lighting'. A new camera mode where you adjust the lighting levels of a portrait photo ranging from normal lighting to studio lighting.
The portrait lighting works with both the back and selfie cameras. You can also change the lighting effect after taking the photo if you so desire.
iPhone 8 camera can also now shoot 2160p (4K) videos at 60fps (the first in mobile phone), and 1080p videos can also now be shot at highest speeds of 240fps.
Other features the camera comes with include geo-tagging, simultaneous 4K video and 8MP image recording, touch focus, face/smile detection, HDR.
On the front of the iPhone 8 sits a 7-megapixel selfie camera, with features like face detection, HDR and panorama. The camera can record 1080p (Full-HD) video.

Performance & Storage
The iPhone 8 is powered by Apples new A11 Bionic chipet with six cores; two of which are high-powered cores to take care of power-hungry tasks while the remaining four are energy-efficient cores for less demanding operations.
Apple says the two high-powered cores are 25% faster than the corresponding cores on the A10 Fusion chip, and the four low-powered cores are 70% faster compared to the two on the A10 fusion chip. The A11 chip is paired with 2 GB of RAM which should serve you well for gaming and multitasking.
No Micro SD card slot on the iPhone 8 and you get two storage options; 64 GB or 256 GB.
Battery & Other Features
The 1,821 mAh non-removable battery on the iPhone 8 will provide you with over 14 hrs of talk time and 40 hrs of music playback. The iPhone 8 comes with fast charging and Qi wireless charging support that can take you from flat to 50% charge in just 30 mins. The iPhone 8 runs on iOS 11.
The fingerprint sensor is also back and is embedded into the home key.

The iPhone 8 is available for pre-order and will go on sale on the 22nd of September, 2017. When available, you will be able to purchase the iPhone 8 at leading online stores in your country.

Alternative Smartphones to The iPhone 8
The iPhone 8 Plus is one to consider as it offers more screen real estate, RAM and dual camera setup for a higher price tag. If you have more cash to dish out, you can check out the more premium iPhone X which offers a bigger 5.8-inches all-screen AMOLED display, dual cameras and new FaceID.
Other great Android smartphones are the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, LG V30, Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus which all offer high end specs and some of which sell at a much lower price.
The Nokia 8 is also another great Android smartphone to consider and it sells at a much lower price tag. It offers a 5.3-inch display, dual 13-megapixel sensors on the back and a 13-megapixel selfie shooter, with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB storage.
